Earling Access Gaming

I've been watching the recent early access launch of Atlas. If you haven't been paying attention Atlas is a survival, mmo, made by the same developer as Ark. The game it's self looks like a lot of fun, but I like survival, building and exploring, but that's not what I want to talk... write about. What I'm really here to talk about is early access and how so many people just don't seem to get it.

What is Early Access? Steam says

Early Access Game

Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops.
Note: this early access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progress further in development.
It seems like nobody is reading any of this. Take Atlas for example. Yeah they are having a ton of trouble with servers and in game bugs and yeah it's annoying, but the game isn't done being made yet. The problems you're having now won't be there when the game is done.... Well aren't supposed to be there when the game is done. You're complaining the game that said it's not done and is still being made, isn't working right. Of course it's not working right IT'S NOT DONE YET.

I've even seen people comparing it to the launch of Fallout 76. Of course the big difference here is one game said it was done being made and ready to sell, even though it was all sorts of broken, and the other game said "hey we aren't done but if you really want you can see what we've done."

So what's the lesson? The moral of our story? If you want a finished game, don't buy an early access game... And sadly, if you buy a finished game you just have to keep your fingers crossed that it's going to be ok and not be a giant mess. Why Bethesda... why?
